About Ministry of Information

The Ministry of Information (MOI) is the principal organ responsible for the dissemination of Government’s development communication. As part of its core mandate, the Ministry ensures that feed-back information in respect of reaction to Government policies and actions, is brought to the attention of Government for quick response to help ameliorate and solve problems facing the citizenry.

The Ministry of Information exists to facilitate free flow of adequate, timely and reliable information and feedback between Government and the public for socio-economic empowerment and enhanced democratic citizenship.

MOI facilitates the formulation of government’s policies on the mass media. It sees to the development and improvement of the mass communication media in Ghana. It is the responsibility of the Ministry to ensure that, the resources available are fully utilized for the dissemination of information on Government policies, activities and programmes.

The Ministry ensures that the agencies in the mass media are used in accelerating social, political, and economic transformation within the country in order to keep pace with the tempo of accelerated national development.

The Ministry envisages the attainment of a free, united, informed and prosperous society with good governance through Development Communication.

The Ministry is politically headed by Honourable Fatimatu Abubakar, the Minister for Information.

She is ably assisted by Hon. Sylvester Tetteh, Member of parliament for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro constituency, as Deputy Minister.

The bureaucratic head of the Ministry is Mrs. Charlotte Morgan-Asiedu, the Chief Director.
