Au Opens 6th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting in Accra Today

The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Honourable Kwaku Ampratwum Sarppong has announced that the Government of the Republic of Ghana, under the auspices of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will host the 45th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council and the 6th Mid-Year Coordination Meetings of the African Union (AU), at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) in Accra today.

The three-day meeting from 18th – 21st July, 2024 will commence with the 45th Ordinary Session of the Executive which will last for two days and followed by the 6th Mid-Year Coordination Meetings of the African Union (AU) on Sunday 21st July, 2024.

The theme for the 45th ordinary session of the Executive Council is “Educate an African fit for the 21st century.: Building Resilient Education Systems for Increased Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality, Relevant Learning in Africa”.

The 6th Mid-Year AU meeting will bring together African leaders to discuss critical issues affecting the continent, including peace and security, economic development, and social integration.

“It is our fervent hope that through this event, the Republic of Ghana would once again demonstrate its commitment to the acceleration of the integration agenda of the continent and also help to promote continental unity”, the deputy minister emphasized.

The meeting will provide a platform for member states to review progress, set new agendas, and make key decisions on AU initiatives.
