The Minister for Information Designate, Fatima Abubakar has said that she would continue to work on some of the innovative media support programs that her predecessor, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah initiated at the Ministry.
In an interview on the AM Show on Joy TV, Ms. Abubakar noted that, she would see to the continuous implementation of the innovative media support programmes that Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah had initiated.
“I am not going to reinvent the wheel especially some of the innovative media support programmes that Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah initiated like the Coordinated Mechanism on Safety on Journalist and Media Capacity Enhancement Programme and other campaigns that we started at the ministry are things that I believe I should renew the energy and make sure we see to the continues implementation of those”.
She stated that, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had personally communicated with her his expectations of the office.
“By virtue of this nomination the President of the Republic has personally communicated to me his expectations of the office’’.
She added that as a Minister designate, she is expected to give direction and guidance as to how she would assist the various Ministries Department and Agencies of Government to effectively communicate Government project and policies. She mentioned that her experience as a communicator at the Jubilee House and deputy Minister for Information has equipped her enough to handle her position excellently.
Hon. Fatimatu Abubakar before her appointment served as a deputy minister for Information from 2021 till her nomination as Minister for Information on February 14, 2024.
