Ghana Gas Spurs Industrialization and Energy Security in Ghana

The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Gas Limited Company (Ghana Gas), Dr. Ben K.D. Asante stated that Ghana Gas has positioned itself as a cornerstone of Ghana’s industrialization and energy security through innovative projects and strategic initiatives.
Addressing the media at the Minister’s Press Briefing in Accra today, Dr. Asante declared that his outfit’s operations have diversified energy sources for power generation while enabling industrial growth through gas supply.


“Our operations have diversified energy sources for power generation while enabling industrial growth through gas supply. Key industrial clients include Sentuo Refinery and Marcopolo Ceramic, which rely on the company’s reliable gas distribution network”, he said.
He mentioned that the commissioning of the Anokyi Mainline Compressor Station was vital for delivering power to Kumasi and beyond, addressing the growing energy demands of central and northern Ghana.


“This project enhances operational flexibility and ensures a steady power supply to Ghanaian households and industries,” he noted.
He added that the Karpowership Gas Pipeline System has led to significant cost savings through fuel substitution.


“By supplying gas to the Sekondi-based power plant, we support 20% of Ghana’s total electricity supply”, Dr. Asante revealed.
The CEO of Ghana Gas mentioned that the company’s commitment to quality was evident in its certifications.


“We have attained ISO 45001:2018 for health and safety and are on track for ISO 14001 environmental certification”, he announced.
