The Ministry of Information has organised a talk on Mental Health and Stress Management for management and staff.

The session which was held at the Ministry of Information’s Press Centre were to dispel stigmas, increase public understanding of the value of mental health, and offer practical strategies for upholding mental wellness in the workplace.

The guest speaker, Dr. Isaac Newman Arthur who is a clinical psychologist and Director of UPSA Clinic, addressed a variety of subjects, such as the difficulties associated with mental health, what it means to be healthy, and traits of mentally sound people.

 He stressed the importance of dispelling myths and stigmas related to mental illness and the influence that mental health has on people as individuals, as groups, and as organizations.

He explored the risk factors of mental health, and the leading causes of death related to mental health.

Dr. Newman presented statistics on the global mental health burden, stressing the need for collective action to address this critical issue.

He also highlighted the impact of stress on mental health, performance, and productivity, offering practical tips on managing stress and maintaining performance under pressure.

He concluded by outlining effective approaches to managing mental health in the workplace and key principles for enduring psychological health.

The acting Chief Director, Mrs. Lily Fati Soale commended the facilitator for the insightful presentation and encourage Staff to put to practice the knowledge shared for the betterment of mental wellbeing and life.
