The Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) has announced plans to deploy cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) tools and robots to enhance the efficiency supply and quality of water services in the country.

This groundbreaking move promises to reshape the water management landscape, marking a significant step towards a more sustainable and advanced approach.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CWSA, Ing. Dr. Worlanyo Kwadjo Siabi, unveiled the agency’s ambitious plans during the Minister’s Press Briefing on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

“We are at the forefront of a new era in water management. By deploying AI and intelligent robots, we aim to significantly improve our ability to provide clean, safe, and reliable water services to our communities.” he declared.

He said the use of AI in water management would play a pivotal role in addressing non-revenue water issues and streamline Government revenue mobilization in the sector.

The technology, in partnership with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is expected to reduce losses caused by leaks and unauthorized connections.

In addition, Ing. Dr. Siabi said CWSA is leading the development of intelligent robots designed to be launched into water pipelines. These robots are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to detect pipe bursts and unapproved nodes, enabling real-time responses to emerging issues stressing that the implementation of such advanced robotics is set to revolutionize the monitoring and maintenance of water distribution systems.
