Press Release: MOI Rolls Out Second Phase of Town Hall Meetings

As part of effort to ensure and sustain regular policy interaction with the general public, the Ministry of information (MOI) is set to roll out the second phase of its town hall meetings.

The second phase which begins on November 15, 2017 will run till December 6, 2017 in 50 districts across the country.

The town hall meetings will discuss and throw more light on government flagship programs and key policy interventions such as free senior high school, restoration of nurses’ trainee allowances, one district one warehouse, one district one factory, paperless port, digital addressing system, operation vanguard (fight against galamsey), planting for food and jobs etc.

The town hall meeting is one of the main channels the MOI utilizes in ensuring timely and reliable information on government development agenda is shared with citizens at the grass root level to enhance democratic citizenship.

In line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 16 and 17, the town hall meeting is a platform employed in recognition of the importance of partnership building, citizen participation, inclusion as well as decision making at all levels for good governance and accountability,
