PROS in MMDAS to Be Trained in Social Marketing Communication.

In its efforts to deepen communication at the district level, the Ministry of Local Government has partnered E-on-3 business solutions to train public relation officers in Ministries, Departments and agencies (MDAs) in digital marketing.

The move is to improve communication at the district level by complementing traditional means of communication with social media due to the growth of internet population in Ghana coupled with its high speed in circulating information.

“From an ordinary print post on the wall the information moves in an uncontrollable speed when the digital is added”, Mr. Kumi stressed.

At a presentation session organized at Moven Pick Ambassador hotel in Accra yesterday, the executive director of E-ON-3 business solutions, Mr. Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori Atta indicated that the move would encourage MDAs to also take advantage of open data platforms.

As part of the package, information dissemination would be centralized at one point and churned out to the various social media pages that have been created for all the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

Information Officer in the MMDAs have been trained to marshal the full potential of the internet to enhance their communications activity through the respective district’s social media pages.

District which have poor internet connectivity or no internet connection at all will be trained on the use of offline digital communication tools improve Government communication.

The Acting Director for the Information Services Department, Madam Efua Essel, was convinced the move would enhance information dissemination to the district offices, adding that “it will minimize the hustle the ISD goes through to send information to the districts”.
