Ghana News Agency

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) is the body charged with the core mandate of collection, processing and dissemination of news internally and externally with emphasis on truthful and unbiased stories about Ghana and beyond.

Established on March 5, 1957 the GNA is charged with the dissemination of truthful and unbiased news. It was the first news agency to be established in Ghana and in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Ghana News Agency essentially acts as a central news collection agent of the state which gathers news from the various regions and districts in the country. GNA’s operations also give a significant voice to the vast majority of citizens in rural areas, thereby promoting good governance and reducing the urban bias of news reportage.

The Ghana News Agency has offices in all the regional and some district capitals, and also employs the services of stringers in many towns and villages across the country.

Our Vision

To be a first class centre of excellence in news gathering and reporting and the preferred source of news on Ghana, Africa and the World, using state-of-the-art technology and competent personnel .

Our Mission

GNA exists to contribute to political, social and economic development of Ghana through gathering, processing and dissemination of high quality news and information of interest, relevance and value from throughout Ghana, West Africa and the World.
