The world Health Organisation has officially announced the achievement of the Food and Drugs Authority of Ghana to the Regulatory Maturity Level 3.
Ghana becomes the second country in the WHO African Region to attain regulatory system “maturity level 3”, the second-highest in the four-tiered WHO classification of national medicines regulatory Systems.
This level indicates that Ghana’s system is well functioning and integrates all required elements to guarantee its stable performance.
This is milestone achievement which is the result of investment by Government of Ghana in strengthening regulatory system that is critical to ensure that when people seek treatment, they receive effective medication and are safe from harm.
WHO believes that this achievement will further catalyze other countries in Africa to invest in regulatory system strengthening to ensure availability and access to quality assured, Safe, effective and affordable medical product to their populations.
